1. Who can use Understudy
You must be at least 18 years old to create or operate a twin. Understudy is not directed at children. You may not use a twin in a way directed at children under 13, and you may not knowingly collect their personal information (including their voice). If we learn a user is under 13, we delete their data and close the account.
If your coaching involves minors, tell us before you launch — that use case is out of scope for now and we will help you keep it separate.
2. Self-clone only
You may only create a twin of yourself. Creating a twin of anyone else — a public figure, a client, a colleague, a made-up persona pretending to be a real person — is prohibited. The consent video you record is how we verify the twin is of you.
3. Your likeness and voice licence
By creating a twin you grant Understudy a licence to use your recorded face and voice for one specific purpose: to create and operate your AI twin on the platform, and to run the live video and voice sessions it powers with our AI providers. Specifically:
- Permitted uses: building your face/voice model, running your twin's sessions, and showing your twin on the pages and links you choose.
- Term: the licence lasts while your account is active and ends when you revoke it or delete your account.
- Revocation: you can revoke this licence at any time. On revocation we deactivate the twin immediately and delete your footage and models at our platform and our AI providers within our stated window.
- No resale or repurposing: we do not license your likeness to third parties or use it to train general-purpose models.
4. The twin is always disclosed as AI
Every twin is labelled as an AI twin of the coach, is disclosed to visitors before a session, and admits it is AI when asked. This is a legal requirement and a core promise of the product — the twin amplifies you, it never impersonates you.
5. Keep the labels intact wherever you place your twin
Wherever you share or embed your twin, you must keep the AI-twin label and the pre-session disclosure intact. You may not remove, hide, or obscure them, or present the twin as a live human. These obligations follow the twin to every place you put it.
6. Prohibited use and takedown
No unlawful, deceptive, or harmful use; no impersonation; no twins of people who haven't consented. If someone believes their likeness is being misused, they can report it to abuse@understudy.to. A verified complaint results in the twin being suspended pending review.
7. Not professional advice
A twin provides coaching in the coach's style. It does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, and it does not handle crises. If a conversation heads there, the twin says so and points to the real coach or an appropriate professional — and to emergency services if someone may be in danger.
